University Park Greenville SC

Greenville has a list of neighborhood parks they have listed on their website. Large, signature parks like Falls Park are awesome, but neighborhood parks are often hidden gems and I love checking them out. We are going to attempt to visit all of these in the next few months and try our best to get there with public transit.

Ben, Adalyn and I set out to visit University Park last weekend. We walked a few blocks to catch the route 11 bus, which travels along Wade Hampton and dropped us off a few blocks from the park. We did have to walk along Wade Hampton, which is a 6 lane highway with narrow sidewalks. Not the most walk-friendly of routes, but it was only a minute or so until we were off the busy road and into the neighborhood.

The park itself has nice playground equipment and swings, lots of greenspace and runs along a creek. We played around in the creek for a bit, then explored the greenspace and found a makeshift trail that was parallel to the creek. We walked almost 1/2 a mile before we turned back around. It was clear enough for the three of us to get through, but nature’y enough that there were lots of birds and wildlife.
